How Odia People Living in USA in Lockdown Situation

Situation

A large number of Odia people are staying in America due to various Software jobs. Currently due to Lock down Situation in USA all the Odia  people in America are getting tough time. America is very badly hit by Corona virus. 17 Lakh already affected and 1 Lakh death has already happened by 27th May 2020. Situation is very bad and very scary in USA. People are scared to go out. 

Work

Most of the Odia people are working from home from March 1st week onwards. Most probably the work from home will be continued till the year end. Due to many business are badly hit by Corona some work is getting affected and it is impacting some people also.

Social

Most of the Odia like to socialize and go out or they go to some Odia gatherings and spend time, have odia food. But this time in US due to lock down all the activities are stopped and they are getting very bored.

Grocery

Most of the people are ordering online from the sites like Amazon Fresh, Instacart, Costco and other online sites. They are calling Indian Store and giving order for a home delivery from these Indian stores.Cost of the items is getting increased by 25% more when you order online.

Mask & Sanitizer

There is a shortage of Stock of Mask and Sanitizers in all over USA. So mostly all ordered online and got it after 1 month and they are using it hen ever they are going out for some emergency situations.

Festivals

All the odia festivals like Jagannath Puja and Ratha Yatra is also celebrated all over USA. And the planning normally starts in Month of May. This year due to Lockdown Ratha Yatra 2020 will be on hold.

Tension

Most of their parents are staying in India. So they are always in tension and praying for a recovery from the corona situations.

Precations

Most of the Odia's are doing very good in obeying the rules. They are always wearing masks and maintaining social distance. They are keeping a good stock of food items for emergency situations. They are washing all the groceries what they are getting from outside. Driking hot water, ginger water.
